Underwater High Definition video acquisition is done by custom firmware modified Panasonic large sensor cameras, using the most advanced implementation of the MPEG-4 codec currently available (H.264/AVC Intra @ 220 mbps). Image quality easily matches that of RED Epic and the industry standard HDW-F900R.
Delivery format can be Prores 422, Avid DNxHD, or any codec the client requests.
Custom made underwater housings, glass optical domes and high powered LED video lights (4000 to 16,000 Lumens) are supplied by our own hardware division, HDVSEATEK. The functional design and compactness of the complete underwater video system allows us to always have two units in the field for total redundancy...an important consideration for remote location, expeditionary filming (e.g the 2012 Ambon-Bandas-West Papua expedition).
Every aspect of the underwater world is our domain...from wide-angle scenics to extreme macro. Areas of interest and expertise include animal behaviour; scientific research; conservation issues; human interest. Our base is in Adelaide, South Australia. We specialize in shooting in remote, difficult to get to locations in Australia, Asia (particularly Indonesia) and the Pacific.
We have complete in-house documentary post production facilities. From concept to delivery can be done professionally by Seadragon Films. The scientific, engineering and educational background of our team enables us to undertake pre-production research, equipment customization, logistics planning and remote location/expeditionary filming. Editing using latest NLE technology is complemented by professional custom scored music and narration.
